Creating an E-Commerce site is more involved than creating a simple Web site. A number of site design elements must work together to make possible a successful E-Commerce transaction.

To create an E-Commerce site you must start with one of the E-Commerce templates provided with WebShop Platinum. When you create an E-Commerce site, it is in fact a Web site. Just like any Web site, it has text display features and hyperlinks. However, it also has specifically designed E-Commerce functionality that makes it different from a normal Web site.

Any E-Commerce Web site generated by WebShop Platinum can have two parts:

  • The front-end Web site that does not make use of E-Commerce functionality.
  • The back-end WebStore that does make use of E-Commerce functionality.

The front-end part of an E-Commerce Web site can include anything that you want: company history, a personnel directory, an organization chart, public relations announcements — suffice it to say “virtually anything.” Now, no one says you must have a Web site front-end, but many people find they do want one. Generating these additional materials is very easy with WebShop Platinum. So, go ahead — you can be as creative as you want.
The back-end WebStore, however, needs to follow certain rules. Because WebShop Platinum uses pre-designed templates to implement E-Commerce functionality, many of the E-Commerce
Web pages should not be altered. The pre-designed functionality embedded in these Web pages is much more difficult to customize than the relatively “free-form” front-end. And unless you want to spend a lot of time doing a significant amount of additional work, we recommend that you keep your changes to these back-end Web pages to a minimum.

Since E-Commerce sites contain dynamic pages that cannot be displayed on your local PD during development, viewing the actual template on a server will gibe you a visual understanding of how your e-Commerce stores will eventually look and function after you publish them using Boomerang Software's or other web-hosting services.

Note that these template examples are not customized for any particular purpose. During your development you should customize the banners, the graphics, the text of the pages, remove pages you do not need, add other pages, add other product etc.

For merchants who want a Web site that enables online credit card transactions.

For merchants who want a Web site that handles all payment transactions offline with no credit card information collected on the site from the customer.

For merchants who want a Web site that does not perform online credit card transactions, but does collect credit card information that can be used to complete credit card transactions offline.

For merchants who want a Web site that enables online credit card transactions and the choice of different UPS shipping methods.

For merchants who have large multiple level category store. Up to 5 level subcategories are avalable. Enables online/offline credit card transaction modes and the choice of different UPS shipping methods. The template supports AuthorizeNet, I-Transact and PayPal Credit Card verification systems.
The "Multi Category" template also has the following features

  • Taxation options. Merchants can manually enter in admin pages taxation for various countries and states/provinces.
  • Real time checking of inventory before accepting the orders.
  • Attribute operations.
       1) The Merchant has an option from the Administrative page to add an unlimited number of attributes (with unlimited values for each attribute). The Merchant also has an interface to set the available account of stock products with all possible attributes and add charge values described.
       2) Available to add cross promotions from the Admin pages, that is, while selling one product, an unlimited number of related products can be proposed from the page describing the product.
       3) Unlimited number of product descriptions can be added to the product page.
  • Images for product can be uploaded directly from Admin pages using browser.
  • View/edit visitors basket. Allows monitoring and deleting unnecessary basket items from Admin pages through the browser.
  • View/edit customers basket.
  • Delete orders.
  • Minimum amount of purchase that can be chosen from the admin pages.
  • Added possibility to work with the stock.
  • Added page "Let them know" for advertising merchants shop & sending up to 5 e-mails to the visitor's friends.

    By giving you these template options, we are letting you decide how you want to set up your Web store. Do you want real-time transactions, or do you want to process customer purchase transactions offline? Do you want to collect credit card information online when the order is placed, or do you want to collect the customer’s credit card information over the telephone once the product is ready to ship? You decide.
